A Clothing Designer
Rose Muguzu - Kenya, Africa.
Rose manages a small shop in Nairobi where she sells hand sewn and embroidered clothing. She creates kitenge shirts, dresses and children's clothing.
When asked where she gets her ideas, Rose says that some designs just come out of her imagination. Others come from browsing the internet to see what the current trends are in other parts of the world. She never tries to imitate local fashions, though. Rose likes her clothes to be unique, and feels that if she offers something that already can be bought locally, her business will suffer.
A Clothing Designer
Rose Muguzu - Kenya, Africa.
Rosemary is from Tanzania. Her parents died leaving six siblings to fend for themselves. Rosemary is the eldest. She has two of her own children but her husband left her. As the eldest, she is responsible for the well being of the rest of the family. The second born is her brother with a wife, two children and no employment. The next two are sisters, both with children of their own and absent husbands. The next two children, a brother and a sister, should be in high school but there is not enough money for school fees. A total of 16 family members all look to Rosemary for help. Working to create a clothing business, she travels works on designs with her sisters and then travels to gain orders while her sisters remain at home to stitch and embroider.
We look forward to helping Rosemary and her family through the sale of their hand made clothing.
